We pride our success to date on a Team that has evolved through hard work and dedication. We are a family company that has developed over the past 18 years. Established since 2005, The Natural Energy Company can provide you with a complete package for the consultation, system design, installation and aftersales care and service spares for heat pump and photovoltaic systems, together with underfloor heating design and installation. Our engineers are trained and time served with world leading Daikin air to water, air to air, geothermal and heat recovery heat pump systems.

Richard McLaren BSc MSc F Gas          Director and Senior Heat Pump Engineer

Richard has worked within the construction industry for over 20 years. Having successfully gained a Masters Degree in Energy & Sustainable Development, The Natural Energy Company was established in 2005. Richard also holds the City & Guilds 2079-U001 FGas and ODS Regulations Category 1 qualification.

Richard is able provide comprehensive indemnified design solutions for private and commercial heat pump and PV systems and complete off-grid energy storage solutions.

The Natural Energy Company has been working with Daikin heat pump equipment for over 10 years. Richard continues to invest heavily in the training and development of himself and Company employees to ensure that the company offers industry leading support to our Daikin installations across Scotland.

Richard believes passionately about good heat pump design. To this end, The Natural Energy Company works closely and trains other like minded local heating companies around Scotland. The aim is to develop organic growth where our heat pump specifications are fully supported with local expertise which ultimately gives customers ever increasing confidence with the world leading Daikin heat pump equipment.


Jennifer McLaren          Director and Company Secretary

Jennifer, a trained textile artist,  has worked within commerce for over 25 years and brings important marketing, administrative and management skills to ensure that the Company quality systems are applied to meet and exceed the installation standards set by Space Air Daikin,  Daikin Europe NV,  RECC Consumer Code and the Microgeneration Certification Scheme for heat pumps and PV.  The Company is also passionate about care of the planet and to this end, Jennifer has developed a range of basic eco cleaning products which are plant based and free from animal testing.



Paul Robson          F Gas Refrigeration &  Senior Heat Pump Engineer

Paul has worked as a refrigeration engineer on Daikin equipment over the past 5 years and has gained City & Guilds 2079-U001 FGas & ODS Regulation Category 1 qualification. Specialisation in Daikin Altherma heat pumps and Daikin air to air heat pump systems, allows us to provide an unrivalled service in terms of Paul's expertise, maintenance, trouble shooting and supply of spare parts. 


David McLaren          F Gas Refrigeration & Heatpump Engineer

The Natural Energy Company is about the future generations. Our commitment to the future is supported by our investment in David who has successfully completed his refrigeration apprenticeship within our family company and now holds the City & Guilds 2079-U001 FGas & ODS Regulations Category1 qualification. David has successfully completed Daikin product training and is working towards being an independent service engineer.


Company Achievements:

August 2009 - MCS Heat pump accreditation with NICEIC, accreditation no. NIC 1014. 

2009/2010 - The Natural Energy Company is shortlisted in Green Business Fife Awards for two award categories, namely, offering a Green Product/Service and Entrepreneurship.  The Green Business Fife Awards were set up to reward companies of all sizes in Fife for their environmental achievements.

April 2010 - The Company achieves NICEIC PV training qualification.

May 2010 - Richard McLaren achieves renewal of his FGas qualification.

May 2010 - Paul Robson achieves FGas qualification.

May 2010 - MCS accreditation for Photovoltaics with NICEIC.

September 2011 - Engineer Paul Robson graduates with Daikin Altherma service engineer status with Space Air Daikin training programme.

March 2012 - Richard McLaren is nominated to the board of Scottish Renewables.

March 2012 - Richard McLaren continues to sit on the Scottish Renewables 'Heat Group' as a working member.

October 2012- Richard McLaren provides RHI presentation to Scottish Renewables conference, Perth.

December 2012- Jenny McLaren hosts a very successful open evening at Natural Energy offices

December2012- Richard McLaren provides RHI presentation to Angus Business Network group

December 2012 - Paul Robson heat pump engineer completes Skyair, Multi/single split and Series C Altherma training

December 2012- Paul Robson and David McLaren complete H&S training upgrade

February 2013- Paul Robson completes Daikin Mini VRV training

April 2013- Richard and Paul complete G3 Unvented cylinder training

March 2015 - Richard and Paul renew their FGas qualification by successfully completing the City & Guilds 2079-U001 FGas & ODS Regulations Category 1 course.

March 2015 - David successfully completes the City & Guilds 2079-U001 FGas & ODS Regulations Category 1 course.
