The Natural Energy Company and PV systems............

Due to Government changes forecast in the FIT scheme in January 2016 and the resulting rush for installations, it is very important that the homeowner has their PV system installed to the strict MCS Standards by an installer with a good background in the roofing industry. The Natural Energy Company has over 20 years experience in the roofing trade:

PV systems installed onto a good open aspect roof provides an excellent renewable energy solution. Current material and installation prices allow for a strong return on your investment compared to standard bank interest rates.

Example:

4kWp  PV system    Annual income generation of      circa. £800

Estimated return  over 20 years  £16000

Government links payments with Retail Price Index

                            Tax free income

                            Total annual energy generation  3500kWh

Typical install price range          circa £5500

Installation of larger systems gives even better potential returns for your investment.

Suitable for any property with a good open aspect.

Combine a Natural Energy PV system with our world leading Daikin heat pump installations will give you a fantastic opportunity to reduce your energy consumption to potentially near-zero energy bills.

Key points to consider before choosing a Pv installer.

  • Are the PV panels MCS accredited?
  • Are the PV panels manufactured by a reputable company - will the company still be in business?
  • Is the inverter from a reputable manufacturer with a proven track record?
  • Is the mounting system MCS 012 certified?
  • Is the roof mounting system designed for Scottish wind and snow conditions?
  • Is the warranty likely to be valid?
  • Does the contractor understand shading issues?
  • Does the contractor understand roofing issues?
  • Does the contractor understand the electrical requirements of the property?
  • Is your property professionally surveyed by a qualified PV and roofing representative?
  • Is the EPC undertaken professionally?
  • Is your property structurally surveyed by a Scottish qualified structural engineer?

The Natural Energy Company provides all of these to ensure that our customers receive best installation systems coupled with the best after sales Workmanship Warranty support. Photovoltaics represent a significant investment and to this end we are dedicated to providing the best PV panels and inverters.

PV and your property electrics

All PV systems operate with DC electrics and inverters to allow AC electricity to be used within the property. The Natural Energy Company believes that the application of the 17th Edition Electrical Regulations (BS7671:2008) is a fundamental part of the longevity of your PV investment.

PV and your roof

Your investment in a PV system must be anchored to your roof for over 20 years. This is a significant number of years for any structural roofing component. The Natural Energy Company considers the roofing aspect as an crucially important element of any PV project.  All our systems use roof anchor systems mounted into the rafters of the property to ensure the installed array is correct and structurally mounted on to your property roof.

The condition of your roof and the PV array is fundamental to the safe, long life of the system.

Site Surveys

Our site surveys form an essential ingredient in our PV installations. As the PV panels will be installed on a roof for a minimum of 20 years, it is essential that the condition of the roof of the property being considered is properly surveyed to ensure it is strong enough to bear the weight of the PV panels. It is essential that consideration is given in this regard to the weight of snow load and to wind lift.

All our site surveys involve the following features:

  • physical examination of the roof at roof level
  • assessment of the structural condition of the roof (ie. condition of rafters, joists, roofing ties etc).
  • full measurement of the roof
  • solar horizon study and shading study
  • roof orientation in compass degrees
  • Inclination of the roof
  • Calculation of estimated yield

This information enables us to offer our customers an accurate, fully comprehensive quotation for a PV system which will be installed correctly and safely.
