The Natural Energy Company is a family run firm which has developed over the past 16 years and prides its success to date on a Team which has evolved through hard work and dedication. Established in 2005, The Natural Energy Company can provide their clients with a complete package from initial consultation, to system design, installation and aftersales care and service spares for all renewable systems including heat pumps, photovoltaics, solar thermal,dedicated underfloor heating systems and battery storage systems.

The Natural Energy Company engineers are trained and time served with world leading Daikin air to water, air to air, geothermal and heat recovery heat pump systems. The company was invited to become a Tesla accredited installer of Tesla Powerwall battery storage systems in 2020.

The Team

Richard McLaren BSc MSc FGas - Director & Senior Heat Pump Engineer 

Richard has worked within the construction industry for over 20 years. Having successfully gained a Masters Degree in Climate Change & Sustainable Development, The Natural Energy Company was established in 2005. Richard also holds the City & Guilds 2079-E001 FGas and ODS Regulations Category 1 qualification. Through the close association between The Natural Energy Company and Daikin UK, Richard continues to invest heavily in the training and development of Company staff to continue to offer industry leading support for our Daikin installations across Scotland. 

Following the company's accreditation as a Tesla installer, Richard is the company expert on the Tesla Powerwall and its integration into our renewable energy systems which we can offer our customers.


Jennifer McLaren - Director and Company Secretary 

Jennifer, a trained textile artist, has worked within commerce for over 25 years and brings important marketing, administrative and management skills to ensure the Company quality systems are applied to meet and exceed the installation standards set by Daikin UK, the Microgeneration Certification Scheme and RECC Consumer Code for heat pumps and photovoltaics. Jennifer cares passionately about the environment, and has sourced a range of everyday eco cleaning products which are plant based and free from animal testing. 

Jennifer is now offering the Bring Your Own Bottle refill scheme for several home cleaning products. 


Paul Robson - FGas Refrigeration & Senior Heat pump and Commercial AC engineer 

Paul has worked with the company for over 12 years and is a Daikin qualified FGas refrigeration engineer having gained City & Guilds 2079-U001 FGas & ODS Regulation Category 1 qualification. Paul has unrivalled field based experience in terms of the installation, maintenance, repair and trouble shooting of Daikin heat pumps. 

Having completed his Daikin training for commercial heat pump systems including Skyair and VRV4 heat recovery heat pump systems and the new Daikin H HT, Paul has excellent technical knowledge of the full Daikin Altherma range.


David McLaren - GasSafe & FGas Refrigeration Heat Pump Engineer 

The Natural Energy Company is about future generations. Our commitment to the future is supported by our investment in David who has successfully completed his refrigeration apprenticeship and now holds the City & Guilds 2079-U001 FGas & ODS Regulations Category 1 qualification. Having successfully completed Daikin product training on all Altherma models, and becoming Gas Safe accreditation in September 2018, David is now a fully experienced heat pump  engineer.

David is one of a small number of engineers in Scotland who hold FGas and GasSafe qualifications, a high value skill set which supports Daikin's network of installed hybrid heat pump systems.

David is also the creator and administrator for the hugely successful Daikin Altherma 'Help & Advice' forum on Facebook which offers technical advice and remote tuition to installers and homeowners in the UK and beyond.
